Preferred Experience:

• Ideal candidate has been supporting traditional server based relational databases (Oracle primarily and MySQL secondary) for over 7+ years out of which last 4+ years in public cloud environments (Azure/AWS).
• Solid understanding of cloud computing, networking, and storage principles with focus on either Azure or AWS
• Install, configure, and upgrade Oracle Database software 12c/19c across various environments.
• Optimize database performance through tuning, indexing, and monitoring.
• Design and implement robust backup and recovery strategies for Oracle databases.
• Implement and manage security measures, including user access controls and auditing.
• Apply patches and updates to ensure Oracle databases are up to date and secure.
• Working Experience on high availability solutions, such as Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) and Datagaurd.
• Proficient in writing and optimizing SQL and PL/SQL queries for efficient database operations.
• Plan and execute upgrades to newer Oracle Database versions and migrate databases between servers.
• Perform efficient database cloning and refreshing for testing and development purposes.
• Monitor and plan for database capacity to accommodate future growth.
• Diagnose and resolve complex database-related issues and incidents.
• Utilize Oracle Enterprise Manager for comprehensive database management.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate database-related updates.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for databases and processes.
• Strong planning, deployment, maintenance and troubleshooting experience in high availability
• Expert in setting up health-checks and troubleshooting of Oracle backups, restores and recovery models
• Able to work on On-Call rotations and provide 24*7 shift hours support at L2/L3 level
• Able to work independently in a project scenario and do POCs
• Passion for delivering timely and outstanding customer service
• Ability to work independently, with little or no direct supervision.
• Great written and oral communication skills with internal and external customers
• Strong ITIL foundation, Continual Service Improvement and Total Quality Management experiences

Basic Qualifications:

• 7+ years of overall operational experience on Oracle database
• 4+ years of Azure/AWS experience as a cloud DBA in a 24*7 production support model
• Shell scripts for Monitoring like ‘slow queries’, replication lag, nodes fail, disk usage. etc
• Backup and restores (Backups should be automated with shell scripts/Ops Manager)
• Database Health check (Complete review of Database slow queries, fragmentation, index usage. etc)
• Maintenance (Data Centre outages etc)
• Architecture design as per the Application requirement
• Segregation of duties (User Management – designing User roles and responsibilities)
• Participating in DR (Disaster Recovery)/COB (Continuity of Business) plans as applicable
• Database Profiling, Locks, Memory Usage, No of connections, page fault etc.,
• Export and Import of Data to and From Oracle datapump,
• Monitoring of Various issues related with Database,
• Monitoring at Server, Database and Various Monitoring Tools related to Oracle,
• Database software Installation and Configuration in accordance with Client defined standards.
• Database Migrations and Updates
• Hands on experience in Server Performance tuning and Recommendations
• High availability solutions and recommendations
• Hands on experience in Root cause analysis for business impacting issues.
• Experience with SQL,SQL Developer,TOAD,Pgadmin,mongo db atlas
• Experience with python / powershell scripting - preferred
• Secondary skill in MySQL/postgresql/DB2 – preferred
• Good understanding of PAAS and RDS databases

Preferred Certifications:

• Azure fundamentals certification (AZ-900) – REQUIRED
• Azure Database Certification (DP-300) - desirable
• AWS Certified Database Specialty - preferable
• Oracle OCP

B.Tech/BE/MCA in Information Technology degree or equivalent experience
